Summary of the lecture

This lecture introduces the Helios Cycle™, a breakthrough technology originally developed to produce oxygen on the Moon—now poised to revolutionise iron production in the steel industry. The Helios Cycle™ enables green ironmaking with zero direct emissions, offering cost competitiveness with conventional methods.

By replacing carbon with sodium in the reduction process—and recycling that sodium in a closed-loop system—Helios decarbonises steel production. This approach eliminates dependence on consumable reductants and significantly reduces operational complexity. It also lowers emissions, energy consumption, and production costs, while enabling the use of low-grade ores and tailings without pre-treatment.

Participants will explore the inner workings of the Helios Cycle™, and examine how this pioneering technology addresses key industry challenges—such as GHG emissions, the green premium, and the slow pace of adoption in a traditionally conservative sector. Join us and discover how you can be part of the Helios movement.

What you will learn:

  • Understand Helios’ Cycle core mechanics and energy efficiency, and other applications.
  • Gain insights into value chain transformation and future opportunities.
