steelChallenge-20: Registration starts on 1 September

Now in its 20th edition, steelChallenge has grown into a premier initiative in steel education, attracting over 30,000 participants since its inception.

Get ready: steelChallenge-20 opens registration on September 1, 2025, welcoming thousands of students and industry professionals from around the globe.

The competition begins with the Regional Championship on November 25, 2025, at 12:00 UTC, where participants will have 24 hours to demonstrate their skills using advanced steelmaking simulators. Regional winners will then advance to the World Championship in Berlin, held during the worldsteel Special General Meeting.

High School Category

For the first time, steelChallenge-20 introduces a High School category as a pilot program.

Developed in collaboration with Techint and Hadeed, this initiative gives younger students a practical introduction to steelmaking. Using the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) simulator and a specially designed case study, high school competitors will participate in their own Regional Championship. The program is designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation, while strengthening partnerships between education and industry.
